This winter BLM plans to roundup 9107 wild horses and burros and remove 6,244 of them. After that they plan to roundup 5,548 wild horses in the summer and remove 4,502 of them- total of 14,655 rounded up and 10,746 removed for fiscal year 2010. On top of the $75 million BLM is asking Congress for (basically half to roundup these horses and half to feed what will be over 45,000 in government holding, BLM is requesting $42.5 million to purchase private land in the East to house captured, sterilized and separated wild horses. This is part of the absurd “Salazar Plan” that has been met with close to zero public approval and is likely not within the legal abilities of BLM. Over 24 million acres have been taken away from wild horses and burros over the past 40 years and those lands must be returned to the horses and the horses released back onto these “zeroed out” herd areas. Call on Congress to Rein in BLM Spending! TAKE ACTION HERE.

Fight back is all we can do, things are going to get dangerous for the horses and the american people, a really bad group coming to congress and a president who hasn’t got the backbone to be strong..The only thing they may agree on is not funding…but just what do you think this group is going to do to those 40,000 plus horses in holding??? It is a question we cannot avoid and we had better be prepared for the worst…

It is the same thing we did to the Native Americans. Pushing them to smaller and smaller islands of lands and destroying their way of life forever.

The term for the BLM’s actions to exterminate the wild mustangs from the West is genocide.

GREED!
November 21, 2010 at 7:36 pm |
I wanted to help stop the BLM’s round-up of our freedoms, our wild mustangs on our free land in Nevada last week. I had a dream that I could go out there and help the lives of fellow Americans remain free for another day. But the dream became a nightmare of reality as I was surrounded by people with guns and then decided to only watch them trap and segregate and haul the innocent frightened mustangs away. I also found that terrible day, the act of civil disobedience took more courage than me.

Michael, there is a great deal you can do to help our Wild Horses and Burros without having to use civil disobedience. There is a petition that you can sign. It has to be signed by November 22. You can find it on American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign website–you can click onto their website on the blogroll at the right side of this website:

seems like to me the blm is deliberately targeting cloud and his family – they are thumbing their nose at us, saying see we can round up and remove america’s favorite herd of wild horses and you cant stop us. this govt cares nothing for its citzens – i am not surprised anymore by what they do – i would just hope someone could come forward and adopt all those horses to save them as one band
November 24, 2010 at 8:29 pm |
The more vindictive they are, the worse they look and the public is not liking the looks of them, already. The people are already angry and just looking for a place to place blame–BLM fits the profile. They would be so much wiser to take a different course and work WITH the advocates. They need to first get rid of the dead wood in the top of their heirarchy–they have been there far too long and are blocking any real progress. It is time for a complete housecleaning and overhaul of the BLM.
