You can be part of the historic March for Mustangs rally in Washington DC, on Thursday March 25, 2010, even if you cannot be there in person.
We, Las Vegans, live in a unique city that is full of visitors from all over the US and the world, so while advocates march on the BLM in our Capitol, we can educate a huge public. On Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 12:30-3pm,PLEASE JOIN US ON THE LAS VEGAS STRIP as we walk in pairs through the crowds getting signatures on this stunning petition to PRESIDENT OBAMA. We told the President that we would not go away as long as wild horses and burros are being abused, and this is how we prove it to him – with your help.
The Protest on the Las Vegas Strip on Feb 18, 2010 was a huge success and very exciting for all who could take part. The banners were sensational – in fact thelast thing the President saw as he turned toward Air Force One was the banner of Freedom the Calico Stallion escaping the BLM! We got his direct gaze on the banners FIVE times on his limo route!
Thursday, 3/25/10, between 12:30pm to 3pm. – or longer if you have lots of energy – we will walk the Strip in pairs wearing our vinyl vests that say OBAMA ORDER THE BLM TO STOP MUSTANG ATROCITIES on one side and on the other side is a striking picture of Freedom the Calico stallion running from the BLM roundup. You will be a mobile billboard for the afternoon! How very Las Vegas – bring your camera to chronicle the fun.
We will ask folks to sign the petition and give them informative handouts on the true condition of wild horse & burros on public land.
Arlene will fax these signed petitions to President OBAMA, Interior Secretary KEN SALAZAR, Senator HARRY REID & both the House and Senate Appropriations Committees where Salazar and the BLM just asked for $12 million for increased roundups in 2011 and $42.5 million to buy just one farm in Kentucky to warehouse formerly wild horses in what we call a SALAZOO. We can not let any more mustangs and burros go to BLM holding pens. Too few are left in the wild. Also, several states are poised to revive horse slaughterhouses, so you know what that means to “excess” wild horses and burros in a bad economy. See you on the Strip!
Park in the Fashion Show mall and by 12:30pm be out near the corner of Spring Mountain and Las Vegas Blvd to get your petitions, handouts, and walking vests. If you need a partner, we will pair you up with someone and assign you a short section of the Strip to walk. If you aren’t up to walking, we’ll show you where to stand and still collect hundreds of signatures.
