Wild Horse Wednesday!

Repost from Int’l Fund for Horses “Tuesday’s Horse” Blog– take action!

Hello, everyone:

The horses are speaking

Feature columnist for Tuesday’s Horse, Audrey Caprio, has written an article about the wild horse and burro situation, entitled “The Horses are speaking”.

Here is an excerpt:

Pictures, videos on YouTube abound, and increasingly the American public is distraught and outraged by this wild horse and burro holocaust. The horses, contrary to BLM statements about their poor and emaciated states, appear quite robust and healthy on a voluminous array of pictures and videos gathered by wild horse and ecological photo journalists. And yet, rounded up they are, and the taxpaying public gets to view the inhumane practices of the BLM with their helicopter “gathers”, the terrified horses, the deaths, the stampedes, ad nauseum.

How is it this animal abuse is permitted, and paid for, by us, the American taxpayer, and all we can do is watch, aghast at the scenes before us? Everything inherent in these roundups and “processing” is violent. May I quote an esteemed American scientist and inventor in saying, “Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages.” Thomas Edison.

Tell the President you are outraged at the continuing acts of violence committed against our wild horses and burros, that only he can stop it as no one else in the government is willing to.  Ask him to call a moratorium on all wild horse and burro roundups, and order Congressional hearings and investigations into all BLM activities related to its manage of the Wild Horse and Burro program.

I read the Audrey’s post earlier and left a comment. It is a terrific post and she is a very talented writer. Recommended!

I just called & talked to a White House volunteer operator. I thanked her for being a volunteer operator. I told her I was calling to bring President Obama’s attention to a public program that benefits only local interests and/or special interests yet is funded by all the American taxpayers.

She said “. . . and what program is that?” I told her it was the Bureau of Land Management’s Wild Horse and Burro Program. I told her I was calling to protest the cruelty of the roundups. She then said, “thank you. President Obama will receive this message tonight.”

One thing I had done earlier when talking to the White House volunteer operator was to state at the very beginning of my spiel that I had 3 (or whatever) points to make, This way they know from the outset you have 3 (or whatever) points, and wait for you to spit them all out. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to say any more than the cruel roundup thing.

Just a note that might help someone else when speaking with the volunteer operators and the White House.
