    O.K. ADVOCATED LET’S PRACTICE:
MYTH 1–WHY DO BLM CONFERENCE MINUTES RECORD CANADA’S REQUEST FOR 10,000 HORSES? WHY IS THERE A DEMAND FOR HORSES IN DENMARK? WHY IS THE BLM WANTING TO CHANGE ADOPTION LAW SO AS TO GRANT INSTANT TITLE? THESE DOCUMENTS WERE GOTTEN UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT

  2. LOUIE COCROFT Says:

MYTH 2–WILD HORSES ONLY REPRODUCE AT THE RATE OF 10% A YEAR–THIS ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL ACADAMY OF SCIENCES.
MYTH 3–WILD HORSES ACCOUNT FOR LESS THAN 5% OF GRAZING ON PUBLIC LANDS–THIS ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL ACADAMY OF SCIENCES.
MYTHS 4 AND 5–HOW SHOULD WE ANSWER? DOUBLE CHECK ME ON ALL OF THESE REBUTTALS BEFORE I SUBMIT THEM. LET’S GET IT RIGHT AND THEN ALL OF US RESPOND.

  3. Marilyn Wargo Says:

Bullcrap, totally untrue and misleading counter by Abbey. mar

MAR, BEFORE I SUBMIT TO THE PRESS, AM I CORRECT?–WANT TO GET IT RIGHT.

Can some one please clarify what Bob Abbey is getting at under his Myth #1 section? It doesn’t make sense to me. What does the GAO report have to do with sales of horses or whatever?

This guy looks like a polished politician. He sounds like one. And he’s probably paid like one. I wouldn’t expect anything different from him than this propaganda.

The biggest myth in this country? That we can actually trust our government.

    • Karen L. Says:

He’s attempting to justify the BLM’s long standing lack of management for the horses by referring to the GAO’s criticism as though it were all because they just won’t sell to slaughter. First of all, that isn’t true and is very convoluted in reasoning. Secondly, what provision is he talking about?? The Burns Rider??

      • Karen L. Says:

Yeah, Abbey’s whole statement of “myths” is odd—clumsy and non-specific and inaccurate. He must be feeling the pressure of the informed advocates. I’m wondering if he was advised to say something by those in power above him? We’re getting louder…

    • Nora Morbeck Says:

Thanks, Karen. Mr. Abbey worded this very clumsily, so I wasn’t sure what exactly he was getting at. Agreed, VERY convoluted reasoning.

Since we really don’t have an accurate count for how many wild horses or burros are actually in captivity in long-term or short-term holding facilities, I have no doubt in my mind that some have been sold under the table for slaughter. Older, hard to handle, “unadoptable” horses? It wouldn’t surprise me at all if these ended up on a slaughter truck bound for Mexico. Most likely, these kinds of horses are sold with a kick-back to individuals who then ship them off for a quick buck.

I still think part of the big rush to round up horses has to do with the European Union’s changing standards on imported meat, including horse meat. If the EU will no longer accept horse meat that contains certain chemicals, they won’t buy horses from America. (The equine meds ‘Bute and Banamine both state, right on the label, “Not for animals intended for human consumption.”)

So, I think the BLM is going to end up sending at least some of the surplus horses (and burros?) off to slaughter with some kind of rationalization before the EU’s new rules go into effect. Easier to ask forgiveness than permission…

SO FAR, THERE ARE ONLY 10 COMMENTS RESPONDING TO THE ARTICLE. THEY NEED LOTS AND LOTS–THIS IS ONE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE THE TRUTH PUBLIC. I INVITED READERS TO GO ONTO THE CLOUD WEBSITE AND FIND THE TRUTH. THEY NEED TO HEAR FROM US. IT’S JUST A MATTER OF REGISTERING AND LOGGING IN. YOU DON’T NEED TO GIVE THEM TOO MUCH OF YOUR OWN PRIVATE INFORMATION–IT IS ONLY A COMMENT ON A TOPIC.

I know it’s a “typo” — but did you see how they spelled his name, “Robery”?

How did those wild horses topple all those monuments?????

    • Laura Evans Says:

Was this in Montana? Because unless I’m mistaken isnt the Pryor herd the only wild horse herd in Montana? They’d be traveling pretty far and through quite a few towns to get to Green River.
