When: Wednesday, December 30th from 11am – 1pm

Where: One Post Street, Suite 2450, San Francisco, CA 94104

From Ginger:

“I’m on a journey now to find Cloud, the horse that has started a movement to save his kind. There are a lot of people who love him and love what he stands for: family and freedom. I want to thank all those who are as brave and strong as he is. When I started talking about wild horses 15 years ago, people did not look at them as a wildlife species. That is changing—now people are campaigning for the freedom of wild horses and burros so that they don’t have to be beholden to any human being for anything. They are on their own and doing well when we stay away. A movement has been created and it is only growing while the BLM continues to ignore the value of this species to the American public. There is a tremendous disconnect between the BLM and the American public. Until the BLM attempts to understand the value of these animals, they will continue to be at odds with the very people who pay their salaries. Yes President Obama, it is time for change. People really are getting it and Cloud has been the horse that has led them down that trail and has shown the world how fantastic it is to live free.

When the BLM attacked Cloud’s herd this summer, it got the attention of a worldwide public and that is motivating people to effect change. This is a very democratic process and it is exciting. People are planning protests around the nation for our wild herds and this is an example of a functioning democracy.

    Ginger,

Thank you for your courage and steadfastness in fighting for their freedom. You have been a pillar and have given us the strength not to give up no matter how discouraging it may seem at times.

I will be praying for your safety as well as Cloud’s and the Calico Herd.
I am planning on attending the SF protest. Momentum is building and it must continue.

    Be safe.
    Winnie

PRAYER IS MORE POWERFUL THAN MOST KNOW–SAY THE LORD’S PRAYER–TOGETHER–THAT COVERS IT ALL AND KEEP ON KEEPING ON. REMEMBER, WILD HORSE ANNIE HAD TO FIGHT FOR YEARS, AND SHE DIDN’T HAVE ALL OF US.

The distress in my mind is like an internal war. Are we in America or not? Are the people the driving force behind government or not? It would appear that our voices are no longer a concern to our local, state and federal government any longer. Corruption, greed, power hunger and tiranny overrides the will of the citizens who now are forced to fund governmental paychecks with no say so whatsoever. Voter regret on my part is a understatement. How did I let myself be taken in by Pres Obama insincere ways? But, do our votes truly make the decision anymore? I am not sure. Is our democracy an illusion?

At this point, we still have freedom to speak out, think independently, protest publicly and pray to Jesus(God) openly without fear of life and limb. These things we must do passionately without ceasing. There is a much deeper issue at hand underneath the wildlife massacre and habitat destruction. The government is counting on diversionary tatics played upon the people of the United States. If we have not awakened from our slumber yet, it is high time to do so before our beloved country is sold lock, stock and barrel to the highest foreign bidder! The alarms must be sounded from coast to coast. Along with the land is sold the workforce paying the taxes! We will have NO ONE to blame but ourselves for refusing to acknowledge the facts as the facts are revealed to us. Our feet & hands must be set to battle, though we are stretched to our breaking points with economic, physical, mental and spiritual struggles.

I am so sorry I can not be there to help increase the numbers and add strength this week during the Calico/Nevada roundup protests. I pray, pray, pray with all fervency for the travisty to end. The nightmare and brutality is incomprehensable. My soul is swimming in a sea of confusion at times. However, God the Almighty knows and sees. He will judge accordingly those humans using their wills for evil and not good. He IS the author and Lord over HIS creation. Humans may deny this fact but that does not make the fact any less crediable.

In many ways, I agree with you Morgan. I’ll add that we live in a culture that is primarily detached from nature. Kids don’t know where their food comes from — a can, right? People rail against deer hunters, but they’ll sit down to a steak dinner at Outback without questioning the quality of the life of the cow. Driving by a pasture, can folks tell if those are horses or cows? Some people honestly don’t know the difference.

The way I see it, we’re all connected. When we walk in awareness and with compassion for all living things, we honor that connection. When we strip away the dignity of other living things, we inevitably strip away our own dignity as humans. We manifest an “us” against “them” scenario and create enemies of other living beings. That mindset makes it easier to take away their freedom, neglect or abuse them, or slaughter them mercilessly. After all, some people rationalize, they’re only animals.

Truthfully, I think Americans place way too much faith in the government. I’ve come to a time in my life where I’m still speaking up but suspect that I won’t be heard. People in power simply don’t care. We’re paying them to watch out for their own interests and the interests of those who funded their campaigns.

I know that sounds cynical, but that’s been my experience in trying to get my elected officials to listen to what I have to say on the wild horse/burro issue. It’s going to take a massive wave and a lot of public education to turn the tide, and I believe it can be done. Sadly, the only thing politicians understand is public perceptiion and not getting re-elected or re-appointed. So, what we can do is get really loud and shine an unflattering light on them. They’ll only change if something makes them look really bad.

They’ve killed how many horses in recent round ups? I think that looks bad and deserves a lot of press.

Morgan- You have a way with words, I wonder where Pres Obama will get his votes next time around? I truly hope “they” are watching and reading our blogs. We write nothing here but the truth, we write with passion and we write with conviction. We arite and pray maybe someday they will actually see the truth and listen to us.

Thank you Ginger for all your hard work and dedication to the wild horses. I became involved when I watched the PBS special this fall. Although I am active with a variety of animal rights causes, this one truly brought me to action and it was mostly because of your wonderful film. I am so sad today because of the calico roundup, but I wrote my letters to Harry Reid and President Obama and hopefully they will hear all of our protests and things will change for the dear horses. I agree with you that they just need to be left alone to live in their natural way.
Be safe in your search for Cloud and the other horses. I hope you will be able to make another film about Cloud in the future with a good outcome.

  7. Marilyn Wargo Says:

Ginger, It is good to hear from you. Please be safe and careful on your journey. I hope all is well on the mountainside. We will be waiting for news. You are in our hearts with Cloud and all the wild ones. Swift journey, return soon. You are needed. Mar

  8. Marilyn Wargo Says:

Remember these figures; memorize them so you can tell anyone who asks:

The National Academy of Sciences Study found that Cattle consume 70% of the grazing resources on public land as compared to Less than 5% for wild horses and burros. Another of their studies negates BLM saying the wild horses increase in population over 20% every year, they say less than 10% population increase.

We need to have our facts straight when we get asked about things. Now we need to be out there where we can tell people; at protests all around the country. Good luck to us all to keep telling the story of BLM and the wild ones. mar

  9. Nora Morbeck Says:

Mar — great stats! Where did you find this? I’d like the link or specific source information to include in my next round of e-mails to congress.

Ginger- Do be careful, its a wild world out there. I hope you find some peace up there on that mountain. We all will all be up there with you in spirit. Breathe in the fresh clean air and heal yourself, renew yourself. We will be waiting. -Kathy
