  1. Morgan Williams Says:

Ginger. You are beautifully eloquent as always.

How do you like that? The BLM now calls the internment pens “long term pastures”. That’s like calling Alcatraz Island a vacation home for elderly persons not able to exist in regular society – all on the taxpayers dime of course.

    • Barbara Steele Says:

      Morgan,
Glad you picked up on “Long term pastures”. That was brought up at the D.C. BLM Advisory meeting by the public relations woman, (don’t have her name) who advised them to change term from long term holding to long term pastures. She even showed pretty pictures of horses in green pastures. While in Chincoteague this past week I was shown some photos by a lady whose son evidently checks out these “holding areas” to make sure contractors are “taking care” of them. Photo showed hay in feed racks and rows of horses eating just like a steer feedlot appears. “Pasture” in back was dirt. Horses looked well fed so this woman showing me photo thought this was wonderful. Also was told they took photo in Nevada and some casino owner owns the land(and probably the contract to feed horses) I responded that the horses didn’t need to be there eating taxpayer dollars but back on the range where all the cows are now grazing. Will try to get her to email a copy of the photo and just where she took it.
Ginger is a wonderful spokeperson for the wild horse and the continued publicity is perfect!

  2. Marilyn Wargo Says:

Ginger and Makendra, Glad there is more press. It is better, too, for the horses.
Hope you are well and holding up. Mar

I received the following email this morning from a person handling a postcard campaign to each state’s Senator and the Senator’s. The Postcard features a professional photo from Carol Walker. Since they are out of postcards at this time, I will try to makeup my own & contribute to this current effort. I am going to also send postcards to the Committee of Energy & Natural Resources. I have a list of all the names and addresses of the 24 Senators on the Committee neatly compiled in a Word document. I could send the document to you by personal email.

    FROM: Garnet Pasquale (whbpostcards3@yahoo.com)
    DATE: 10-14-09

We are out of postcards at the moment. Mailed out 2,000 yesterday – to 17 different States! (this makes 6,000 in circulation). I will add you to the list for the next order / mailing (in approx 10 -15 days)

Thank you for your support of the Wild Horse and Burros.

Please note: there is a very small window of time left to affect Federal Legislation. This year on this issue – Basically, 30- 45 days. WE HAVE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN THIS YEAR – there will be little-to-none WH & B left in the Wild by next Oct. – with the BLM’s current plans and proposals.

One of the “Postcard Campaign Hosts” is pre-preparing a typed label that goes on the message-side of the card – that says the following:

“America’s wild horses and burros belong to the American people and were to be protected and preserved, “now and for future generations” but we have been betrayed. I strongly oppose selling wild horses and burros “without limitation” or for slaughter and want them returned to our public lands to be managed in a humane way. I also support a Congressional investigation into the Wild Horse & Burro Program to hold the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) accountable and urge your co-sponsorship of R.O.A.M, “Restore Our American Mustangs”, Senate version, S.1579.”

    • Ronnie Says:

Thank you for informing us of “out of postcards.” I ordered 400 and did not receive. I hope they get more printed fast. But the good news is that 6,000 are in circulation!!! Got to get more out. This WILL work! Again, thank you for the update!

    • Marilyn Wargo Says:

Great Morgan, though I know we have a link, would you please send them to me.? I hope you still have my email address. It is here, too.

I am going to go to the copy shop and have the stickers printed for the post cards. Plain post cards can be bought also. You can even use a picture you like and get multiple copies and glue it to the front. Thanks for this. I think I will add the link to George Knapp’s report to the above copy. This is a very good ‘new phase.’ Postage is high! mar

        FROM: Garnet Pasquale (whbpostcards3@yahoo.com)
        DATE: 10-14-09

I posted the email of the woman (Garnet) about the new postcard campaign. She is putting people on the waiting list to recieve 2 postcard of Carol Walker’s photography design for sending to your state Senator.

Just my additional thought was to send duplicate postcards to the 24 Senators on the Committe of Energy and Natural Resources.

I am going to use cardstock paper cut down to postcard size.

      • Morgan Williams Says:

        Mar,

Sorry. What is your email address again?

      • Morgan Williams Says:

Never mind. Found your email address.

    • Janet Ferguson Says:

Beginning to wonder if anyone has actually SEEN any of these postcards or spoken to actual people who have sucessfully ordered them. After reading the above, one begins to wonder if such postcards actually exist, has this been verified as a “non-scam”. Sorry for the lack of respect or the questioning of it, but one must be wary of such things.

      ???

      • Morgan Williams Says:

        Janet:

I have seen the postcards yet. I am waiting for my order to arrive.

        Garnet Pasquale (whbpostcards3@yahoo.com)

This is the woman I have been conversing with by email. Perhaps you could contact her too & check out the validity(if you have not already) and report back to others on this blog.

I was sent the information on Facebook by The Cloud Foundation’s press agent.

The postcard features a Carol Walker photo.

        Morgan

      • Janet Ferguson Says:

Do you have the Press Agent’s phone # in Chicago? I will talk to her and ask her if she has seen, if you want?

I like you idea of just making our own postcards. I wonder if Washington will accept glued images or would they freak out with Homeland Security issues.

      • Morgan Williams Says:

        Jan,

I am not using images on the postcards because I do not want to run into copyright infrigmetns. I am using plain (but colored) card stock (that I already had on hand) and then printing the suggested message on the backside:

“America’s wild horses and burros belong to the American people and were to be protected and preserved, “now and for future generations” but we have been betrayed. I strongly oppose selling wild horses and burros “without limitation” or for slaughter and want them returned to our public lands to be managed in a humane way. Valerie Kennedy’s info was printed on all press releases we read the week prior to Cloud’s roundup, and then in subsequent press releases,

Valerie is out of commission right now. I don’t want to give out exact detaile on this public website. Please try Garnet at her email above.

WE NEED TO BE SEEKING A MORATORIUM FOR ALL ROUNDUPS TO STOP.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE HORSES AND BURROS ARE BEING TAKEN AND THAT MUST END.

REMEMBER TO DEMAND A MORATORIUM!! STOP ALL ROUNDUPS!

      • jo bunny Says:

my postcards arrived in today’s mail! they are beautiful. a stallion, his mare & foal with a quote from velma “wild horse annie” johnston that reads, “these horses belong to all the people of america& they exist on lands that belong to all the people in america.” .they are already addressed to my senators. woohoo.
i also received the postcards from the world horse welfare’s make a noise campaign which calls for the end of long distance transportation of horses to slaughter in europe. the petition was deliverd to the european commission last month, but they are still sending out postcards to them in belgium. i figure what the #H@@. i’m sending postcards to save horses in america i might as well send a few to save horses in europe as well.
so, the wh&b postcards are out there! they are real! get them while they are hot!

      • Morgan Williams Says:

        jo bunny,

That is great news about the postcards arriving today.

      • Marilyn Wargo Says:

Jo Bunny, did you get the poster by Sloan? I sent it and lost it, so I sent it again. I also sent it to TCF to share with everyone who can print. I hope it will be given to you somehow. it features a mare and foal in brilliant colors and was done by a computer drawing and coloring program. It is free with no strings attached.

Are these the post cards that ran out?? If so, it is easy to make them, without glue, too, in case of national security issues! mar

  4. Marilyn Wargo Says:

Morgan, this i am sending to my friend in CT. who works with and has many native contacts. She has been spreading the word for us and this will undoubtedly give her a new front. She visits Pine Ridge every year. mar

  5. jan eaker Says:

just went to this site, they make it very easy to contact your senators and representatives in Washington, very informative site,
    thanks Morgan!

  6. Christine Says:

I sent it to a Native Prophecy group I’m part of. For the record, the Yakama have specifically said its untrue that they want this.

    • Morgan Williams Says:

      Christine,

Thank you for the correction. Thanks to Jan F. too. I contact the Cloud Foundation. My incorrect posting and link have been removed.

      Morgan

      • Janet Ferguson Says:

Actually, you posted what you thought was correct, this must be done —

“put it all out there” it is a way for learning!!!

I posted the exact same resolution on something on Facebook (before Laura Allen wrote it wasn’t true!), then found it was wrong, then went back to Facebook & wrote it was wrong, tried to unpost but couldn’t. I may have finally been able to delete the link. Don’t remember it may have been Facebook’s Animal Law Coalition Page or something.

So, as they say, “Don’t worry about it.” Right?????

That is why I like “bouncing stuff off” Laura Allen at Animal Law Coalition! If she can she will always try to find out “what is the rest of the story. . “

      • Christine Says:

The erroneous story is what’s been reported in the major media, and its good to know about it. They’re not really listening to the Yakama and the other tribes who are saying its false.

    • Morgan Williams Says:

      Christine,

Again, I am sorry for propigating falsehoods and hurting native Indian peoples’ reputations. TCF removed my posting as soon as I called.

George Knapp gave me permission yesterday to make copies of his I-Team report from Saturday. Your DVD will go out in the mail today. Otherwise, my permission rights allow me to make copies for sending to Senators, like my 2 in Wisconsin and the Committee on Energy & Natural Resources. Doing this (video copying) & contributing to the postcard campaign will take up what financial resources I have left to spend on this fight for S.1579 & S.727 – but will not diminish my resources of passion, voice and heart! I can still type as long as I have an internet connection! My eyes long to be on site and see 10s of thousands of our glorious Mustangs and Burros , running free in the wild where they belong – without harm or harrassment on our precious public lands still peacefully intact as Creator God intended! For perspective sake, this ache comes after the great desire to see my Lord Jesus face to face someday.

      • Marilyn Wargo Says:

Morgan, I told you I would pay for 2 dozen DVDs to be burned. Now you are saying you only asked to do this for your self and not the group here? so we have to contact Mr. Knapp again? I will send you a check if you wish for any help, but can we not send copies out, also? Mar

      • Morgan Williams Says:

        Mar,

I will call and remove my posting about making copies of George Knapps I-Team report last Saturday. I am not willing to get into anything with anybody.

        Morgan

      • Marilyn Wargo Says:

Gee Morgan, i don’t want to get into anything, I offered to help, you are apparently refusing it. Others of us wanted to send out the Knapp report, no more, no less. I am willing to help pay for them even if i do not get any. I do believe they should be sent also to the white house. What ever you think you perceive, Morgan, get over it. You do not have to run to someone to remove things. Come on.. mar

  7. jan eaker Says:

it is the same as the old days, white treaty makers always demanded that one chief “touch the pen” to the treaty and speak for all the people; when that was never the way of any of the native people, so i know this is not what all native people think or endorse,

  8. Janet Ferguson Says:

I believe this Resolution referred to in your link, above, has been proven to be false by R. T. Fitch, per the attached article written by Laura Allen at Animal Law Coalition. I found the 6/14/09 NCAI “resolution” on line and sent it to Laura Allen back in late July. Her article is attached:

If this is a different issue please let me know, but I am pretty sure this resolution keeps circulating taking people’s time off the “scent.”

Also the link includes more articles on disinformation perpetuated by the pro-slaughter groups (further reading on).

The link is here, re: “resolution 6/14/09”

    http://www.animallawcoalition.com/horse-slaughter/article/987

    • Janet Ferguson Says:

I think this “resolution” is “redrafted” every year. . . untrue as it is. But for more info, go to either R. T. Fitch or Laura Allen on this. . .

    • Morgan Williams Says:

      Jan F.

Thank you for the correction. I will call the Cloud Foundation and ask for my posting to be removed from this blog so that no ones else is taken off the real trail.

      Morgan

      • Janet Ferguson Says:

As long as you are confident I am reading it all clearly!

Following this stuff is so confusing and all.

Your postcard info is great I am on the case. . . .

    • Marilyn Wargo Says:

JF and Morgan, I sent this to my friend who works with Lakota people and she has not got back to me which means that she may have a lawyer she knows looking at it. That is how she does it. It will be worth knowing. This type of thing does happen and it is crazy. But we should find out. Send it to RT and Terry. mar

      • Janet Ferguson Says:

You can’t be too careful with any of this stuff. So much stuff is floating around
P.S I got my basement cleaned out and am reading a great book about a Crow Indian Chief. More later….

  9. Janet Ferguson Says:

    Found this online today:

    http://www.foresthistory.org/

It looks like a great source of real information about the history of forest lands in our country! I recommend just looking about the “about us” tab on home page, and if you can listen to the little video.

I wonder what resources they might make/have available on our western lands and wildlife as per history as was made and still being made?

  10. jan eaker Says:

FYI, here is a link to a National Wildlife Federation website w/ information on another case of BLM trying to rush through action on a pristine wilderness area; 120,000 acres of Fortification Creek are in danger from a rushed plan for cola bed methane gas development.

    the link is http://online.nwf.org/site/R
once there, search for FOrtification Creek and read; selling out our land for the almighty dollar,

Got info from my State Senator’s website, indirectly.

      • Marilyn Wargo Says:

I just got info that the Obama administration is siding with the National Rifle Association to defeat a suit by the Center for Biological Diversity and others, to place the Rocky Mountain Gray Wolf back on the Endangered Species List.

That’s it. I am no longer a friend to Obama.

One NRA member sited a ‘very life threatening situation’ when he had to throw snow balls at 30 wolves to save himself. The wolves… ran away! mar

      • Ronnie Says:

I am no longer a friend of Obama either. Although he co-sponsored the anti-horse slaughter bill, Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act, as a Senator ( running for Democratic nomination) all has been downhill for animals since days after his election.

Running for office he appeared to be pro-animal. And days after election he announced…emphasized… all will be first scientific study, no lobbying. He was to halt Bush’s 11th hour sneak rulings on animals. To my knowledge, Obama did not do any.

If Salazar is not bad enough as Sec. of Interior, Obama was even considering major horse hater killer, former Rep. Charles Stenholm (D-TX) for Sec. Agriculture. The Ag. Dept. has blocked anti-horse slaughter bills for years!!

And yes, most notably has been the needless, heedless slaughter of the wolves. All research proves the wolves should not be delisted. And of course, na na from Obama with the MAJOR outcry of the DOI, BLM most recently, and BEFORE Cloud and Pryor Mts.

I voted for Obama. I donated to his campaign. He was hope for real change. I now feel so betrayed. If this TOTAL disregard of animals continues and he is up for re-election, most likely I will not vote. Who know who the Republicans will have nominated. Palin?

        Obama, it is frightening.

Here’s a little ditty I sent yesterday to the Natural Resources Defense Council or whatever it’s called; Redford supposedly supports this group. (I was googling Redford trying to ‘run him down’) at least they are ‘FOR’ THE WOLVES, but I found nothing “for” the horses! So, naturally I opened my big fat yap about it:

……..”To the Natural Resources Defense Council “biogems” page:

Where do you discuss the terrible decimation that is taking place today of America’s free-roaming horses on public lands? Please direct me to where you discuss this anywhere on your website, I am eager to see your writings on this situation.

Are America’s Mustangs not also biogems?

This apparent subspecies of horse has a different physiology and family life than do America’s domesticated animals.
They are smaller, have much harder hooves, and exist oftentimes in a very unforgiving environment, yet they prosper. It has been said by experts that, “while it is seemingly impossible to prove they are a separate subspecies, it is also equally impossible to disprove it.”

The Bureau of Land Management is whisking this wild species off America’s public lands at an alarming rate and leaving few to remain. They propose to continue to warehouse tens of thousands of these unique, former wild-living species in reserves, unable to reproduce their unique lines, until those individuals die off. Those remaining on the U.S. Public Lands are being subjected to cross-breeding and bloodline desecration. Yes, desecration.

I urge you to visit several websites to see what is happening, unless, as an institution, you have chosen to “look the other way”.

      • Marilyn Wargo Says:

Ronnie, you and me both. What a sad day. I do intend to tell him how I feel in a hand written letter. The power of the Interior Department must be challenged. I would vote to prevent a republican candidate from winning. But I think Dennis Kucinich (spelling) would have been really good.

When i was a student at New Mexico State I joined the Mexican Gray Wolf Coalition. That was 1986. The red wolf is in the wild in the East. The Wolves of Yellowstone have spread to Oregon, Colorado and Utah. The Mexican Gray wolf has been hounded and displaced. Now we use aerial gunning in the lower 48 to kill Rocky Mountain Gray Wolves. Grizzlies are off the Endangered Species List, tho’ a new survey finds their populations strong at 1200 or more. That is a small number of the big bear over a large area.

The idea of the wildlife corridor from central Wyoming to the Yukon is still a visionaries dream of free and wild roaming wildlife in a self perpetuating environment that humans would be on the fringe of and only be observers. mar

I sent this email to Natural Resources Defense Fund after reading that Robert Redford supported them and others on this blog suggested contacting Robert Redford. Can’t find anything about wild horses on their website, though.
